Amazon cruises - Spirit of the Amazon

General information: The Spirit was constructed in 2006 in accordance with the standards of the Peruvian National maritime Authority, which follows internationally accepted security practices. The boat is 66 feet long, 13 feet long. Her motor is a 50 H.P. inboard diesel, built for dependability and durability. The propeller of the Spirit slowly (2000 revolutions per minute) so we do not damage dolphins, turtles, manatees or other animals.

We are in frequent contact with other craft and our shore installations with two way radios. In the event of emergencies we have access to hydroplanes for evacuation of guests.

In the construction of the “Spirit”, we used common woods, rather than the rapidly disappearing exotic hardwoods. On some surfaces and for curtains, we use materials made from recycled plastics, rather than materials harvested from the rain forest.

On the first deck that has panoramic windows, the passengers will sleep in hammocks fitted with mosquito nets. For those with special needs, folding cots with mattresses are available. On the “Spirit” our guest will travel refreshed by gentle breezes coming across the Amazon jungle and of the river. The bath is shared.

With Its short shallow-draught, this little boat enter in tributaries where any boat can not do it and stopping at each villages to know its traditions. The “Spirit” carries its own small boats with outboard motors to explore the oxbow lakes formed as consequence the great river has changed its courses through time.

Our day trips consist of expeditions into the rainforest in small boats led by expert guides skilled in recognizing birds, animals and plants. Our guides speak English, Spanish and the languages of the forest. Guest are taken to streams and lakes deep into the wilderness

Dining Room:
The dining room is located on the stern and protected by a canvas roof and railings. Diners can relax, eat and observe nature all at the same time.

Observation Decks:
The top of the Spirit is an observation deck where guest enjoy an unobstructed view of nature. Because the deck is about 4 meters above the waterline, photographers are often at eye level with monkeys and birds for better shots.

Charter: The Spirit is available for charters to you can design their own adventures also.

Day Trips in Iquitos: The Spirit can be chartered for day trips along the waterfront in Iquitos to visit indigenous communities, zoo and sunset tours.

Beaches Tours: During the dry season, the Spirit can take visitors to the beaches on the Nanay River for a lunch and water sport.
