KLM resumes six weekly flights to Quito and Guayaquil during the high season

KLM has restored six weekly flights between Amsterdam and Ecuador for the high season, serving Quito and Guayaquil with Boeing 787 aircraft. The expanded schedule took effect on 12 July and gives passengers more options for travel between Europe and Ecuador.

The route links Amsterdam Schiphol Airport with Ecuador’s two main international gateways. It is intended to meet stronger seasonal demand from holidaymakers, business travellers and people visiting friends and relatives.

What changed

KLM’s high-season schedule increases the frequency of its Ecuador service while retaining the Boeing 787 Dreamliner on the long-haul route. Amsterdam also functions as a connecting hub for passengers travelling from other European markets.

  • Six flights operate each week during the high season.
  • The expanded schedule began on 12 July.
  • The service connects Amsterdam with Quito and Guayaquil.
  • KLM continues to use Boeing 787 aircraft on the route.
  • Passengers can connect through Amsterdam to other destinations in KLM’s network.

The additional frequency gives travellers more flexibility when selecting departure dates and arranging onward journeys. It also maintains direct access to both Quito, the capital, and Guayaquil, Ecuador’s largest city and a major transport hub.

Ecuador attracts international visitors with destinations that include the Galapagos Islands, the Amazon rainforest, the Andes, the Pacific coast and Quito’s historic centre. More frequent flights may also support hotels, tour operators, transport providers and other businesses linked to international tourism.

Aircraft and seasonal planning

The continued use of the Boeing 787 keeps a modern wide-body aircraft on the Amsterdam-Ecuador route. The type is associated with improved fuel efficiency compared with older long-haul aircraft, as well as larger windows and cabin features designed for extended journeys.

KLM adjusts frequencies according to seasonal demand, and the six-flight schedule is tied to the high travel period. Future changes will depend on passenger demand, operating conditions and the airline’s wider network planning.

Travellers should confirm current departure dates and routing before booking, as seasonal frequencies can change. The present schedule maintains Ecuador’s direct connection with Amsterdam and provides onward access across KLM’s European and international network.
