Pure Amazon Cruise

Pure Amazon: Low water season 5D/4N Experience, starting on Nauta

The enormous basin area functions as a wildlife sanctuary, which draws animals from across the region. The peaceful backwaters exist between lush green islands, which host dense emerald-colored vegetation. The Pure Amazon provides visitors with a modern and comfortable river expedition into the remote jungle areas.

Iquitos stands as the Amazon region’s entrance through its port city; travelers need to fly because no roads exist to reach this location. The journey from that point to the remote community on the Marañón River’s edge, where your adventure begins at Pure Amazon, takes about one hour and forty-five minutes. When you complete the check-in process, you should relax in the Explorer’s Lounge to obtain information about your upcoming activities. The onboard restaurant serves meals that talented chefs prepare with modern culinary techniques.

At sunrise, join an optional birdwatching excursion by skiff at Lake Clavero, a peaceful oxbow lake bursting with biodiversity. The morning meal leads to a journey toward a nearby village where visitors can discover local people and understand their farming practices and their methods for dealing with flood seasons. The ribereños display expert canoe skills as they move through the water in their dugout vessels. The heat will disappear, so you can take a swim or go kayaking in a double kayak. In the evening, enjoy a recap in the Explorer’s Lounge before sitting down to a gourmet dinner. The ship moves upriver toward Yucuruchi during your sleep.

Start the day with another optional birdwatching trip at dawn. The Yucuruchi region supports abundant wildlife, which includes scarlet macaws that dwell in forest canopies and pink dolphins that swim through the Ucayali River. People who have luck will spot the giant Victoria regia waterlily, which features enormous leaves that measure around 10 feet across. Start your day by exploring the local plants and animals through a skiff tour.

The afternoon session lets you experience piranha and catfish fishing on the Yarapa River, where you must return all your catches to the water. The expedition will start when darkness consumes the day. Your guide will use spotlights to show you caimans and bats and night herons and other creatures while the jungle plays its eerie night sounds. The ship continues its journey northward on the Amazon River after dinner.

The Pure Amazon reaches its only river crossing during this voyage by entering the Amazon River main channel. After breakfast, take a skiff excursion along the Yanayacu Yacapana River, where you’ll learn about unique plants and the animals that depend on them. Travel to the Tahuayo River, which moves through the Tamshiyacu-Tahuayo Regional Conservation Area, where various animal species exist. Watch out for numerous birds and monkeys before you start your guided walk through the jungle. The evening concludes with a summary followed by a casual dinner served onboard.

After the last breakfast meal, you will exit the ship at Nauta to board a comfortable vehicle, which will take you to Formabiap, an educational program. The institution provides education to roughly two hundred indigenous students who train as bilingual teachers for Spanish and their original languages. Visitors start their experience by listening to music before they discover longhouse building techniques and participate in a spiritual cleansing with an elder, and study medicinal plants. Your transportation service will drive you from your current location to the Iquitos hotel or airport terminal.
