Aria Amazon: 3-Night Low Water Season

Embark on an unforgettable 3-night expedition aboard the Aria Amazon, exploring the wonders of the Peruvian Amazon during the low water season (June to October). This itinerary immerses you in the rich biodiversity and local culture, from wildlife spotting and fishing to village visits and jungle walks, offering a unique perspective of the Amazon’s hidden treasures.

Your adventure begins with a warm welcome at Iquitos International Airport upon your noon flight by the Aria Amazon crew. You’ll then board a private transfer to downtown Iquitos for a panoramic city tour and a welcome lunch, immersing yourself in the local culture before heading to Nauta port for embarkation. Once aboard, settle into your generously sized suite as you prepare for one of life’s greatest adventures. The evening includes an introduction to the naturalist guides and a routine safety drill, followed by the first of many Amazonian culinary experiences crafted by Aria Amazon’s renowned consulting chef, Pedro Miguel Schiaffino.

The day begins with a search for incredible wildlife along the Ucayali River, where you might spot parrots, egrets, hawks, and monkeys. After breakfast, you’ll have a choice of activities: you can try fishing for the Amazon’s notoriously ferocious piranhas, canoe, kayak, or swim in the black waters of Clavero Lake, or opt to visit an Amazonian village to interact with the native “riberenos” (people of the river). As evening approaches, after dinner, you’ll embark on a leisurely walk in the floodplain forest of San Jose de Paranapura.

As the day dawns, embark on a morning wildlife excursion on the extraordinary Amazon River, offering a chance to witness the awakening of the rainforest. After breakfast, you’ll explore the Tahuayo River, a black water tributary of the Amazon River, while your naturalist guides share captivating stories of Amazonia, providing insights into the region’s rich history and ecology. Following lunch, you’ll take a jungle walk at San Pedro or Puerto Prado’s Forest to learn about the diverse Amazonian flora and fauna, identifying medicinal plants, unique insects, and various tree species. At dusk, another exciting excursion awaits as you explore the Amazon River in search of exotic nocturnal wildlife, observing creatures that come alive after dark.

In the morning, take a guided visit to the local market in Nauta town, where you can marvel at the vibrant regional produce of the Peruvian Amazon and observe local life. After returning to the Aria Amazon for breakfast, it’s time for disembarkation. En route to the airport, you’ll visit the Manatee Rescue Center, a vital facility where orphaned Amazonian manatees are rehabilitated before being released back into the wild, providing a heartwarming insight into conservation efforts.
