Aria Amazon: 4-Night High Water Season

Your adventure begins with a warm welcome at Iquitos International Airport upon your noon flight by the Aria Amazon crew. You’ll then board a private transfer to downtown Iquitos for a panoramic city tour and a welcome lunch, immersing yourself in the local culture before heading to Nauta port for embarkation. Once aboard, settle into your generously sized suite as you prepare for one of life’s greatest adventures. The evening includes an introduction to the naturalist guides and a routine safety drill, followed by the first of many Amazonian culinary experiences crafted by Aria Amazon’s renowned consulting chef, Pedro Miguel Schiaffino.

If you wish, get an early start and head out for a wildlife search along the Ucayali River. This early morning excursion provides a fantastic opportunity to spot various species as the rainforest awakens. Later, you’ll head out on skiffs in search of elusive pink river dolphins, a true highlight of the Amazon, and also witness local farmers and fishermen as they go about their daily lives, offering a glimpse into the rhythm of life on the river. After dinner, another skiff excursion awaits along Dorado Lake, where you’ll search for nocturnal wildlife amidst a sky full of stars, providing a magical end to the day.

Start the day with a hearty breakfast before heading out to explore the Zapote River on skiffs. This will be a full-day river safari, allowing for extensive exploration of this fascinating waterway and its surroundings. A highlight of the day is a delightful picnic lunch enjoyed under the cool shade of the Amazonian canopy. Afterwards, you’ll walk in the floodplain forest, where expert guides will share insights into the medicinal trees, diverse insects, and unique frogs that inhabit this vibrant region, offering a deeper understanding of the Amazon’s rich biodiversity. Later, cruise along the Ucayali River and enjoy the stunning sunset, painting the sky with vibrant colors as the day comes to a close.

We begin the day searching for wildlife along the Ucayali River, taking advantage of the active morning hours. After breakfast, you’ll have a choice of exciting activities: you can try fishing for Amazonia’s notoriously ferocious piranhas, go canoeing or kayaking, or even swim in the refreshing black waters of Clavero Lake. Alternatively, you can opt to visit an Amazonian village, offering a unique opportunity to interact with local communities and learn about their traditional way of life. In the afternoon, we explore the Yarapa River by skiff, specifically in search of different kinds of wildlife that thrive in this area. This evening, before dinner, you’ll have the chance to meet the dedicated crewmembers who have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure your exceptional experiences aboard the Aria Amazon.

In the morning, take a guided visit to the local market in Nauta town and marvel at the vibrant regional produce of the Peruvian Amazon, gaining insight into local commerce and culture. Return to Aria Amazon for breakfast before disembarkation. En route to the airport, you’ll visit the Manatee Rescue Center, a vital facility where orphaned Amazonian manatees rehabilitate before they are released back into the wild, showcasing important conservation efforts in the region.
